Take the city bus to 원대리 마을회관 (Wondaeri Town Hall), departing at 11:20, arriving at 11:40 (20 mins ride).
1. Take the intercity bus from Dong Seoul Bus Bus Terminal 동서울 종합버스터미널 to Inje Intercity Bus Terminal 인제 시외버스터미널

2. From Inje Intercity Bus Terminal to Wondaeri Birch Forest

[Recommended] Take a taxi from the taxi stand around the bus terminal to Wondaeri Birch Forest (20,000 won, 15 mins).
OR
Ticket (2,450 won) can be purchased inside the Inje Bus Terminal. Upon reaching the bus stop (near the church entrance), the bus will do an u-turn and you will alight here. After alighting from the bus, walk towards Wondaeri Birch Forest (in the same direction as the bus before u-turn) on the 2-way lane. See map below for direction. 610m, 10 mins walk. When reaching, you will see a big brown signage indicating the Wondaeri Birch Forest on your left. Before going uphill on the left, register at the counter near the big car park located on the right side of the road and have your toilet break here first. There are big maps on Inje Tour Guide and forest tracking courses located next to the registration booth.
Return trip to Inje Intercity Bus Terminal 인제 시외버스터미널:
The only way to back to Inje Intercity Bus Terminal is by taxi (or hitch a ride). You can get the staff to call a taxi for you.

There are only 3 buses a day stopping at this nearest bus stop to Wondaeri Birch Forest. The only one bus departing for Inje Intercity Bus Terminal daily at 7:34. The 17:48 bus leaves for Hyeolli Intercity Bus Terminal (현리 시외버스터미널) instead and its last bus left for Seoul at 11:40.

There is another bus stop with more frequent buses at Wondaeri Waterway Park (원대수변공원행). However, it is a long one hour walk on the road with the traffic to Wondaeri Birch Forest and thus not covered here.
Wondaeri Birch Forest, a beautiful nature sanctuary with over 700,000 birch trees planted across 138 hectares landscape. There are several scenic hiking courses where visitors can immerse in the tranquil forest with the tall white bark birch trees raising towards the blue sky magnificently.
This ecological tourism site opened in 2012, is listed as one of the top 100 must-go destinations by Korea Tourism Organisation. Wondaeri Birch Forest is visited by over 224,000 visitors annually.
The forest is popular with the locals in all seasons, particularly in winter for its snow-covered landscape. Till today, Wondaeri Birch Forest is still very much 'untouched' by foreign tourists and foreign tour groups crowd, making the forest a hidden treasure for those who have visited.
Wondaeri Birch Forest - Winter
From entrance to the birch forest takes about 1 hour (3.2km). A return trip will generally take about 2.5-3 hours including photo takings. So, take note of the forest last entry time, walking time and closing time in your trip planning. During winter, it is essential to wear warm clothes, snow boots and crampons for the hike.
