Where to Stay in Busan, Korea
Orientation of Busan
Busan can easily be divided into 3 main areas for tourists to stay.
These areas are:
• near to Busan Station (i.e. Nampo, Gamcheon)
• central Seomyeon
• Haeundae, slightly further on eastern Busan.
Most day tours offer pick up/drop off at Busan Station (line 1 & KTX express train station), Seomyeon Station (6 stops from Busan Station on line 1) and Haeundae Station (line 2). Selective day tours also pickup/drop off from Nampo Station (2 stops from Busan Station on line 1).
3 Most Popular Places to Stay in Busan
Nampo - 2-3 subway stops from Busan Station. Nampo is serviced by 2 subway stations (i.e. Nampo Station and Jagalchi Station) on line 1.
There are many affordable accommodation within short walking distance from the subway stations.
Nampo is also a good base for taking the public bus to Songdo Beach, Busan Air Cruise (Marine Cable Car), Songdo Cloud Trails, Huinnyeoul Culture Village, Gamcheon Culture Village and Taejongdae Resort Park.
Seomyeon - Centrally located in Busan with just 6 subway stops away to Busan Station on the same subway line, line 1. Seomyeon Station is also the transfer station for line 2 (to Haeundae Station).
Seomyeon is a lively and convenient location to stay with many shopping malls, underground malls, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Haeundae Beach - The main tourist attraction of Busan and the reason why many people visited Busan especially during summer.
Haeundae is a great place to unwind and chill out. It has easy access to many great cafes, restaurants, subway station, local bus direct from Busan Station, tourist attractions and nature walking trails. It takes about 40-50 mins to/from Busan Station (KTX) by taxi, local bus or subway.
Our Recommendation: HAEUNDAE BEACH
If you are coming from Seoul or travelling onward to Seoul later, we would highly recommend you to stay near Haeundae Beach for a more relax experience.
There are many scenic and probably less crowded places to explore that are within easy walking distance from Haeundae Beach.
Also, Haeundae is a good base to explore the popular attractions at Cheongsapo Seaside Town and Gijang (e.g. Lotte world Adventure Busan, Skyline Luge Busan, Ananti Cove Resort Town, Lotte Premium Outlets - Dongbusan Branch and more).

Travel Tips
If you are arriving Busan Station early of the day, we would recommend you to store your luggage at the station's locker and visit the nearby attractions such as Songdo Beach (& attractions nearby), Huinnyeoul Culture Village, BIFF Square and Gamcheon Culture Village before checking in your accommodation at Haeundae Beach or Seomyeon.
Where exactly to stay at HAEUNDAE (beach)?
Of course, you would want a sea view room along Haeundae Beach! So, take your picks from the many accommodation options along Haeundae Beach based on your budget. You may like to start your search from 'MS Hotel Haeundae' (directly opposite SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium) and the hotels around the area.
