Haneul (Sky) Park is the most popular of the five parks of World Cup Park, near Seoul World Cup Stadium.
The other four parks of World Cup Park include Pyeonghwa (Peace) Park, Noeul (Sunset) Park, Nanjicheon Park and Nanji Hangang Park.
Background of Haneul Park & other parks at World Cup Park
These parks were once a 15 years old (1978 to 1993) landfill that held over 92 million tons of garbage until Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to turn the area into a large-scale environment and ecological park.
World Cup Park is built and opened in May 2002 to commemorate the 2002 Korea Japan World Cup and the new millennium.
Haneul Park of Today
Haneul (Sky) Park is now a green hill of vast grassland, situated on the highest part of World Cup Park.
Bridge from Peace Park & Metasequoia Path
When walking towards Haneul Park Stair, you will come across the Tourist Information Counter and a bridge connecting from Peace Park. Further down the road is the Metasequoia-lined Path, a great photo spot and rest stop.
Haneul Park Stairs
During the peak autumn season, instead of waiting in the long queue for the shuttle bus to take you to the top of Haneul Park, you may consider getting on Haneul Park Stair with a total of 291 steps. The stair is very popular with the locals and the shortest route by foot to the top. Alternatively, visitors can also walk up on the same hilly road as the shuttle bus.
Note: The other zigzag stair on the opposite side, facing Noeul Park is a 425 steps up to Haneul Park.
Lookout Points & Observation Deck
The top of Haneul Park has 22 lookout points including an artistic-looking observation deck that offers visitors stunning views of Seoul and its key attractions of Namsan Seoul Tower, Bukhansan Mountain and Han River (Hangang).
