Exit 8-1 [along the heavy traffic road to/fro Banpo Bridge, reaching directly below the bridge for the walk across]: Go straight for 250m, turn right at the first main intersection to Banpo-daro, continue straight for about 400m, cross the road to the underpass ahead to arrive below Banpo Bridge at Banpo Hangang Park to start the walk. 15-20 mins from Station to Banpo Hangang Park and another 18 mins walk across the bridge.
Banpo Bridge (Banpo-daegyo) is a major bridge over Han River (Hangang) that connects both Seocho (South) and Yongsan (North) districts.
It forms the upper deck of Jamsu Bridge below, making it the first double-deck bridge built in South Korea. Jamsu bridge lies just meters above the waterline was completed in 1976. In 1982, Banpo Bridge was built on top of Jamsu Bridge, creating a two-deck bridge.
There are a 2-way bicycling track, pedestrian walking lane and 2-way road for traffic on Jamsu Bridge, the lower deck of Banpo Bridge.
Exiting the bridge on the left is Ichon Hangang Park where visitors can look back at the majestic two-deck Banpo Bridge crossed and the beautiful views of Han River from the other side of the river.
For visitors bicycling across the bridge, you will need to cycle back and return your bicycle to the same bicycle rental kiosk at Banpo Hangang Park.
For visitors walking across the bridge, you can walk to the nearest subway station (Seobinggo, Gyeongeui-Joongang Line) for your next destination; or continue on the familiar bridge route back for other attractions/activities planned at Banpo Hangang Park.
